Robotics, microgravity and carbon capture were some of the topics that poured out of more than a dozen teams of students from Redlands, Riverside and Corona-Norco school districts at a symposium on Friday, April 19. The event was organized at the University of Redlands Center for Educational Justice and STEM For All Foundation to celebrate creativity, collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Foundation director Vikas Srivastava said he supports the event to “encourage all students to experience the pleasure of working with computers and robots. I believe that STEM education is very important for today’s school children as they will need these technologies to overcome the challenges such as plastic pollution, climate change and the doubling of the earth’s population by 2050.” His children Vidhi and Varun Srivastava, and other students in the Redlands Unified School District founded the foundation in 2017 to encourage students to pursue careers in STEM.
